Just got a text from one of my vasectomy revesal couples from Clovis, New Mexico. It had been 7 years since his vasectomy. When we opened up the main pipes (the vas deferens), we found sperm heads and sperm with partial tails on both sides. With this knowledge, we knew we could do the more simple reversal (vasovasostomy) for both sides. Moving sperm returned to the ejaculate within a couple months, and they were eager to get pregnant. It is important to remember that even when there is sperm in the ejaculate, it sometimes takes time for the quantity and quality to come back and more over, it sometimes just takes time to get pregnant. Remember that for most couples, the average time to pregnancy is about 12 months. Well for this couple, we were ecstatic to hear that they got pregnant with their first child at 14 months and then again 3years 2months later with a son named Samuel.
Sometimes it just takes a little time…
